THE WHAT? Spanish police have razed some 415,000 hemp plants, valued at €100 million, according to a report published by Reuters.
THE DETAILS Some 50 tonnes of the plants were destined to be processed into CBD for the wellness industry, Reuters reports. The plantation, which spanned 11 fields totalling 166 acres, was said to be the continent’s largest.
THE WHY? While the sale and consumption of CBD is legal in Spain and most of Europe, the cultivation of cannabis plants for anything other than industrial use is banned in the southern European country.
