THE DETAILS The recall covers set batches of Nivea Protect & Moisture SPF 30 lotion and SPF 50+ roll on and Sun Bum’s Baby Bum Mineral SPF50+ Sunscreen Lotion and has been issued due to higher-than-permitted benzene levels.

THE WHY? Benzene poses a risk to human health, albeit in this instance, a risk that has been assessed as ‘extremely low’. The chemical is not an active ingredient in either the Beiersdorf-owned or SC Johnson-controlled brands, and is thought to have been introduced during the manufacturing process.
