THE WHAT? Lush has opened its first 24-hour, automated retail experience in the Coal Drops Yard at King’s Cross, London.

THE DETAILS The iLocker vending machine is always open, and is filled with fresh handmade products.

Designed by Anmac, which is owned by Andrew Alpine and wife Gemma Jackson, the locker is said to be a 360º retail experience, with a sustainable design that runs on a low energy output and provides a display for fresh, handmade gifts.

A-Z aesthetics

The pop-up will initially run for six months, with the products and design set to be interchangeable.

THE WHY? Described as a ‘retail theatre’, the pop-up has been created with the ‘future of automated retail in mind.’

Helen Cox, Lush Global Environment Reporting, says, “These exciting innovative micro stores will allow us to get our wonderful handmade products into the hands of even more consumers, making it easier for them to make ethical choices. These allow us to get more of our hero products into the world, without the operating impact of a full store.”
