THE WHAT? The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) has teamed up with Indian beauty and lifestyle retailer Nykaa to launch Beauty&You India, which aims to spotlight the next generation of Indian beauty brands. 

THE DETAILS Created by ELC’s new Incubation Ventures with Nykaa, the program will support India-focused companies and entrepreneurs through a competitive application process. Awards to both pre-launch and in-market premium beauty concepts will be announced in November 2022.

Award recipients will benefit from access to ELC and NYKAA relationships and expertise across the ‘beauty ecosystem’ in order to help emerging ideas that amplify Indian voices and address unmet needs in the categories of skin care, makeup, hair care, and fragrance.

A-Z aesthetics

A panel of entrepreneurs, industry experts, and thought leaders from the world of beauty, fashion, media, and technology will support Shana Randhava, Vice President, ELC New Incubation Ventures, and Anchit Nayar, CEO of Beauty for NYKAA e-Commerce with the judging process.

THE WHY? According to a press release, “Beauty&You aims to help founders, innovators, and creators grow their businesses holistically by identifying brand goals, achieving scale ambitions, and curating product portfolios that speak to a new generation of consumers in the Indian market.”

Randhava said, “With its incredibly vibrant economy and cutting-edge startup community, India represents an exciting opportunity for beauty creators and innovators. Our vision is for BEAUTY&YOU to harness the entrepreneurial energy in India to advance next-generation beauty brands by presenting opportunities that help put brands on a long-term, sustainable growth path.”

These products are typically used to maintain or enhance physical attractiveness and may include a wide range of items intended for both professional and personal use. Here are some common types of aesthetic products:

  • Skincare Products: Including cleansers, moisturizers, serums, and treatments designed to address various skin concerns such as acne, aging, hyperpigmentation, and sensitivity.

  • Cosmetics: Makeup products such as foundations, concealers, eyeliners, lipsticks, and eyeshadows used to enhance facial features and achieve desired looks.

  • Hair Care Products: Shampoos, conditioners, styling products, and treatments to maintain and improve the health and appearance of hair.

  • Fragrances: Perfumes and colognes used to enhance personal scent and attractiveness.

  • Dental Care Products: Toothpaste, mouthwash, whitening treatments, and dental floss aimed at maintaining oral hygiene and enhancing smile aesthetics.

  • Personal Grooming Tools: Including razors, electric shavers, trimmers, and grooming kits used for hair removal and personal hygiene.

  • Beauty Devices: Devices such as facial cleansing brushes, LED light therapy masks, and microcurrent devices designed for at-home skincare treatments.

  • Nutritional Supplements: Supplements aimed at promoting skin health, hair growth, and overall well-being, often containing vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
