THE WHAT? L’Oréal-owned NYX Cosmetics has partnered with The Sandbox metaverse to launch an diverse avatar collection sporting various make-up looks, according to a report published by Ledger Insights.

THE DETAILS The initiative is timed to coincide with Pride Month but its representation will extend beyond the LGBTQ+ community to other minorities, some 8,430 avatars will be up for sale via The Sandbox’s metaverse in total.

THE WHY? The NFT space has been charged with being less inclusive and diverse than you’d expect from a new medium and the project is designed to tackle this by widening representation. In addition, the French beauty brand recruited female NFT artists to create the collection in a bid to address the gender disparity in the industry.

  • Personal Grooming Tools: Including razors, electric shavers, trimmers, and grooming kits used for hair removal and personal hygiene.

  • Beauty Devices: Devices such as facial cleansing brushes, LED light therapy masks, and microcurrent devices designed for at-home skincare treatments.

  • Nutritional Supplements: Supplements aimed at promoting skin health, hair growth, and overall well-being, often containing vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.
